Here's how to use Loopy to turn YouTube videos into sections you can repeat, speed up, slow down, and combine into a setlist. We'll start with manual slicing, followed by the optional AI tools.
Find a song in YouTube
Type a song or band name into Search. Choose a video from the results. Loopy starts with a whole track section.
Capture a visual reference
Waveform capture gives you a visual reference. Choose it, share the Loopy tab with audio, and let the passage play. At the end, choose Upload and save.
Keep the passage you need
To create a loopable bookmarked section, move the start and end handles. Give the section a name, then press Save.
Quick Add for a fill
For a quick fill, move to the point you want and use Quick Add. A bookmarked section will be added with the length specified here. You can refine its boundaries afterwards.
Zoom in. Adjust. Listen.
Use Timeline Zoom for a closer view. To get the start and end of your loop just right, drag the handles, use the adjustment buttons, or type an exact time.
Place the cuts first
To quickly divide a song or section, select it, then open the slicing panel. Drop a divider at the transition point. Adjust as needed, then choose Slice.
Slice the selected section
Those cuts apply to the selected section. Slicing whole track adds sections while retaining the original. Slicing an existing section replaces it with smaller sections.
Let AI suggest the structure
Loopy uses machine learning to automatically slice songs into sections. Select a track or section, then choose Automatic slicing. Proceed and allow tab audio. Loopy records the selected range at normal speed.
Review the named sections
Once recording is complete, select 'Send for analysis'. Processing can take a few minutes, but can be completed in the background. The result is named sections such as intro, verse and chorus. Listen and refine the suggestions as appropriate.
Collections group your songs
Each song keeps its own sections, and songs can be organised into collections. A song can belong to more than one collection.
Add sections and whole tracks
Playlists allow you to create sequences, combining several sources. Open the folder icon, choose Playlists, and create a playlist. Add saved sections from different songs, whole tracks, or a mixture of both.
Choose the order and repeats
Arrange the steps in the order you want to hear them. Set a repeat count for each step. Here, repeat a verse twice, play the fill four times, slowly at first, then eventually at full speed, then play the whole song.
Share a playlist with anyone
You can also share a playlist with anyone. Select it in Library Management, then click Share and copy the link. Anyone opening the link can play your chosen sections, in order, with the saved speeds, repeats and pauses. They don’t need a Loopy account.
Build up the speed
The speed control lets you play a loop at a different speed on every iteration. You can start slow and build towards your target. Count-in helps you come in on time.
Keep it ready for next time
Use Load to return to saved material. Use Collections management to export and share collections, songs or individual sections with others. Sign in on your phone to use the same saved library.
Save. Refine. Arrange.
So that's the workflow: save the parts you need, refine them, and arrange them into a sequence.
